Corporate Accounting ManagerAbout the Role
We're looking for a dynamic and experienced Corporate Accounting Manager to lead our payroll accounting function. In this leadership role, you'll oversee end-to-end payroll accounting operations, ensure compliance, and drive process improvements across a complex, multi-entity environment.
You'll partner closely with HR, Finance, and external auditors while managing and developing a high-performing team. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys improving processes, working with systems, and making a measurable impact.
What You'll Do
Lead end-to-end payroll accounting operations, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries
Ensure compliance with GAAP, payroll tax laws, and regulatory requirements
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of payroll accounting professionals
Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to payroll
Partner with HR, Finance, and external auditors to ensure accurate reporting and audit readiness
Drive process improvements, automation, and efficiency across payroll and accounting workflows
Support and lead system implementations, upgrades, and process redesigns (e.g., UKG, ADP, Workday)
Analyze payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
Maintain strong internal controls across multiple entities and jurisdictions
What You Bring
8+ years of payroll or payroll accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll taxes, and compliance requirements
Hands-on experience with payroll systems (UKG, ADP, Workday, or similar)
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
Experience working in large, complex, or multi-entity environments
Proven ability to lead teams, meet deadlines, and drive process improvements
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
High level of integrity and discretion with sensitive information
Nice to Have
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
Experience with system implementations or large-scale process redesigns
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or similar certification

This is an on-site role, Monday through Friday, in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. You'll work closely with internal teams and leadership while managing critical payroll accounting functions that support the broader organization.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $58.00/hr.
