About the Role:

As a Corporate Communications Specialist you will partner closely with business areas across the company to create and deliver compelling content that engages employees and strengthens the company's culture. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the importance of internal communications, as well as the skills to create, develop and implement long- and short-term communication plans.

The Corporate Communications Specialist position reports to the Assistant Vice President, Strategic Corporate Communications and can be based out of our Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas office. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.

Internal Communications

  • Help execute the internal communications strategy for the organization, including key messaging, communication channels and tactics.
  • Create and deliver internal communications content, including email updates, newsletters, intranet content, videos and presentations.
  • Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure that internal communications are timely and relevant.
  • Identify opportunities to promote employee engagement and successes and help foster a positive company culture.
  • Partner with the Corporate Events team to assist with internal activities and other initiatives to promote employee engagement and strengthen the company culture.
  • Manage and maintain internal communications tools (newsletter, internal emails, intranet, etc.).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with key organizational stakeholders and business areas to ensure all internal communication is clear, consistent and aligned with the company's brand, goals and values.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., marketing, public relations, leadership) to ensure consistent internal and external communication.
  • Serve as liaison to the brand and design team to coordinate project intake and work for business areas.
  • Create presentations to support company strategy, investor relations and share company story.
  • Assist with crisis communication events as needed.

Communication Measurement & Optimization

  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of internal communications, provide reports and make recommendations for improvement based on feedback and data analysis.

What We're Looking For:

  • 3+ years of experience in corporate or internal communications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly
  • Detail-oriented with strong project management and multitasking skills and ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the organization
  • Experience with content creation and delivery (i.e., email, newsletters, intranet content, videos and presentations), strong PowerPoint skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience with Slack, SharePoint and Workfront (preferred)
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards and ability to keep information confidential
  • Comfortable working across time zones and within cross-functional teams.
