Job Overview

Fairview is looking for a Corporate Compliance Strategist to join our team! The Corporate Compliance Strategist is an independent, self-directed professional who will: Assist the System Director Corporate Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer to drive compliance with federal and state regulations and internal policies through development and execution of compliance program strategies. Focus on overall coordination of annual compliance activities at the system and functional level. Act as a subject matter expert, resource and consultant for entity compliance initiatives, revenue cycle functions, Federal and State regulations, and external government audit activity. Plan execute and report on strategic compliance initiatives. Support compliance program elements, including compliance oversight, standards and procedures, response and prevention, enforcement and discipline, education, and training, reporting, and investigating, and monitoring and auditing. Perform organizational and targeted education. Provide consultative services to the organization's senior leadership, providers, and staff. Advise and assist with the development of the Corporate compliance annual audit work plan, awareness, and mitigation of compliance risks. Investigate compliance hotline alerts and assist with administration of the Hotline. Assist and advise Corporate Compliance team members with their audits, projects, and investigations. Support external government audit activity. Possess data analytic and presentation skills. Maintain and promote all organizational professional ethical standards. Be a high-level contributor and viewed as an expert internally. Independently complete assignments and manage projects with little oversight. Communicate and interact with a wide-cross-section of executive leaders, directors, managers, providers, and front-line staff to fulfill job requirements. Have extensive healthcare operations experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the System Compliance Director and Chief Compliance Officer in the development and execution of the overarching compliance program mission, strategy, and oversight.
  • Analyze new or previously initiated aspects of Fairview’s business to ensure that compliance infrastructure is understood and that compliance concerns are addressed. In most circumstances, this will require issue identification, communication, and collaboration. In others, it will also require developing, implementing, and monitoring corrective action plans.
  • Develop and execute an on-going, system wide compliance communication plan to increase awareness of Fairview’s compliance program:
  • Produce quarterly compliance newsletters and other updates,
  • Lead the development of a compliance education program by:
  • Identifying compliance issues
  • Developing compliance curriculum
  • Outlining learning needs of specific areas within Fairview
  • Providing general training
  • Assisting with other system and entity compliance education efforts
  • Completing Compliance annual learning material
  • Administer the compliance hotline and website
  • Facilitate the Payment, Adjustment, Correction and Error (PACE) workgroup and manage issues through to remediation
  • Produce analytic reports for identifying patterns and trends
  • Develop and apply tools to measure the effectiveness of Fairview’s compliance program
  • Partner with Revenue Cycle and Operational leaders and staff to provide guidance and inform decision making on compliance related inquiries and issues
  • Provide consultative services for system and site-based compliance initiatives, regulatory updates, and external government audit activity
  • Lead the annual conflict of interest disclosure process.
  • Coordinate Compliance Departmental efforts by:
  • Participate, coordinate and/or facilitate system and functional compliance committee meetings and workgroups, as needed, with stakeholders,
  • Maintain/update the compliance department intranet SharePoint site, and
  • Maintain and develop compliance policies


Required Qualifications

 

Education

  • B.S./B.A. in Business Administration, Healthcare Information Management, or related field

Experience

  • 5 years healthcare compliance and/or revenue cycle experience
  • 3 years project management within compliance/regulatory arena
  • Experience and accountability working in or with a large, multi-sight integrated health care delivery system

Licensure

  • RHIT, RHIA, CPMA, CCMSCP, CHC or equivalent within 2 Yrs

Preferred Qualifications

 

Education

  • Advanced degree

Experience

  • 5 years working in complex multifaceted healthcare organization
  • 3 years compliance/regulatory responsibilities

Skills

  • general understanding of the following: Laws, regulations, and standards that impact FHS Conditions of Participation (CoP/Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services – CMS)
  • Performance Improvement theory and processes

Licensure

  • Registered Nurse CCMSCP, CHC
