Corporate Controller | Brighton, MA | Family Office (Venture Capital Focus)
Our team is working with a leading family office located outside of Boston looking to hire a Corporate Controller to their growing team. The Controller will oversee the accounting and finance operations of a complex multi-entity organization, leading corporate budgeting, financial reporting, treasury, accounts payable, payroll support, and cash management while ensuring accurate books and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include managing investment and capital call budgeting, overseeing charitable foundation accounting and financial planning, and coordinating with external tax, audit, insurance, and estate planning advisors. The position also supports financing initiatives, monitors liabilities, prepares executive reporting, and provides strategic financial analysis to senior leadership.

Responsibilities:
Implement systems and create procedures to enhance internal controls.
Conduct financial analysis and identify opportunities.
Review/maintain books and records to ensure timely and accurate filings.
Oversee AP process for US entities.
Oversee preparation of monthly and quarterly budget reports across a complex structure.
Track liabilities arising from past / planned transactions and loans
Oversee monthly and quarterly billing of attorneys and consultants to clients.
Assist with the biweekly payroll processing as needed.
Oversee monthly bank reconciliations for trusts, LLCs, and companies.
Assist in Treasury functions, including efforts to obtain financing/credit lines and maximize interest and flexibility of cash-on-hand across accounts.
Oversee and enhance the process to gather relevant data from the investment team.
Budget capital calls for external fund investments.
Ensure accurate reporting on unallocated cash available for investment.
Oversee accounting, budget, and financial planning for charitable foundation.
Maintain relevant processes, procedures and documentation.
Coordinate with external tax advisors on estate, gift and charitable foundation matters.
Responsible for filings and notices, including tax calendars, 401k reporting, census filing, plan administration, 1099s, and federal and state tax notices.
Serve as a point of contact for outside accounting, tax, insurance, and estate planning advisors, along with senior management
Keep abreast of changes in accounting rules and tax laws and regulations applicable to the firm, and advise senior management on accounting challenges and opportunities.
Assist senior management with the firm’s operations, including technology, planning, and tax compliance.
Qualifications:
CPA
Minimum of 10 years’ experience at a top-tier public accounting firm, with 10-20 years of professional experience.
Working knowledge of various trust, non-profit and corporate structures and associated tax issues, ideally within the context of private company investments.
Experience with general ledger accounting, budgeting and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A).
Ability to manage small teams on various projects.
Strong computer skills, including Excel / Office / Access / Quicken / QuickBooks.
