Who You Are

As the Corporate Controller at Maxima Apparel, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our global accounting team, driving transformation in controls and accounting systems, and ensuring strict compliance with financial standards. This role is uniquely positioned at the intersection of financial leadership and technology innovation—you will be expected to champion AI-powered automation across accounting operations, identifying and deploying intelligent solutions that eliminate manual processes, accelerate close cycles, and deliver real-time financial insights. Working under the direction of the SVP of Finance, you will oversee and support a US accounting team, as well as collaborate with international financial counterparts to foster corporate responsibility and productivity.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Operations:

  • Provide dynamic leadership to support the global finance organization and oversee a local US accounting team.
  • Lead and scale accounting operations in a complex and high-growth environment, optimizing key functions: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory Accounting, Cash Management, and Treasury.
  • Manage consolidations in a global environment and review monthly segmented management financials and consolidated financials in accordance with GAAP.
  • Supervise full-cycle accounts payable, including reviewing and validating all disbursements.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and coordinate annual financial reviews with external auditors.
  • Oversee indirect tax compliance globally with internal and external resources.

AI, Automation & Systems Transformation:

  • Drive transformation and efficiencies in controls and accounting systems by evaluating, implementing, and scaling AI and automation tools across the finance function.
  • Identify and deploy AI-powered solutions for invoice processing, cash application, reconciliation, and anomaly detection to reduce manual effort and accelerate month-end close.
  • Lead the integration of machine learning models for demand forecasting, inventory valuation, and predictive analytics to support proactive financial decision-making.
  • Automate routine reporting workflows using RPA (Robotic Process Automation) and AI-assisted tools, freeing the team to focus on strategic analysis and business partnering.
  • Evaluate and implement AI copilots and large language model (LLM) tools to enhance financial analysis, audit preparation, and internal controls monitoring.
  • Partner with IT and data teams to build a modern, AI-ready finance technology stack, including ERP optimization and integration with AI/ML platforms.
  • Establish governance frameworks for AI usage within the finance function, ensuring data integrity, auditability, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Maintain and build budgets, forecasts, and various financial models to support operational and strategic decision-making, leveraging AI-enhanced forecasting where applicable.
  • Develop standard costing models to improve inventory accounting and provide margin analysis to cross-functional partners.
  • Establish, implement, manage, and monitor critical accounting and reporting policies, processes, and associated metrics.

What You Bring

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 8–12 years of progressive experience with consolidations in a multiple legal entity environment, including the review of monthly segmented management financials and consolidated financials in accordance with GAAP.
  • A proven history of effectively leading and nurturing an accounting team through dynamic leadership that cultivates trust and enhances productivity.
  • Experience in apparel, consumer goods, or other inventory-intensive industries with strong understanding of cost accounting, landed cost, and multi-channel margin dynamics.
  • The ability to drive transformation and efficiencies in controls and accounting systems.
  • Experience in leading and scaling accounting operations in a complex and high-growth environment, with a proven track record in optimizing accounting operations.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional partnership skills.
  • A commitment to regular in-office attendance Monday through Friday, while maintaining an executive demeanor to effectively support our team and operations.

AI & Technology (Preferred):

  • Demonstrated experience implementing AI, RPA, or intelligent automation within accounting or finance operations (e.g., automated invoice processing, AI-driven cash application, predictive analytics).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML platforms, data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and modern ERP systems with automation capabilities.
  • Experience deploying or managing AI copilots, LLM-based tools, or GPT-enabled workflows for financial reporting, audit support, or compliance monitoring.
  • Track record of building business cases for technology investments and managing change across finance teams during digital transformation initiatives.
  • Understanding of data governance, model risk management, and ethical AI principles as they apply to financial operations.

Additional Preferred:

  • International experience is strongly preferred.
