Job Summary
The Corporate Counsel works closely with senior attorneys to provide legal guidance to leadership on a wide range of routine matters which may vary in complexity. Works closely with the various internal business teams and functions in reviewing new and ongoing activities to provide legal guidance on privacy requirements of federal and state patient and consumer privacy laws such as CCPA, CPRA, and HIPAA and company privacy policies and procedures to incorporate privacy by design into reviews. Performs privacy review of contracts including those for consulting services, SaaS, health plan, data use, and pharmacy/specialty pharmacy contracts including negotiation of DPAs and BAAs where applicable. Keeps current on industry activities and emerging trends to inform and advise on business programs. Partners and collaborates with peer reviewing teams such as the Legal Division, Data Governance, Information Security, and Government Relations to advise on the privacy components of new projects, products, programs, and services and potential impacts of new privacy laws.
Job Responsibilities
- Handles routine legal matters which generally focus on applying knowledge of one or more legal specialties
- Typically receives specific direction from management or more senior law professionals as to the outcomes, process and schedules expected while developing a deeper knowledge of the business operations of the company
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to execute legal strategy
- Assists on cases, matters and projects, performs and supervises research, reviews standard documents and routine contracts, and prepares routine filings.
- Develops and implements internal legal policies and best practices to enhance operational efficiency
- Works to develop fluency in legal concepts impacting the work performed

Basic Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and at least three (3) years of post-bar attorney legal work experience in a combination of law firm
- Required licensure to practice law in at least one state
- Required Illinois bar membership or active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Experience with time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates
- Experience collaborating across business lines to develop and/or execute departmental strategies
- At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
- At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross- functional team leadership.
- Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing legal guidance on privacy requirements of federal and state patient and consumer privacy laws such as CCPA, CPRA, and HIPAA and company privacy policies and procedures to incorporate privacy by design into reviews.
