Corporate Director of Information Technology

Proper Hospitality is seeking a Corporate Director of Information Technology to serve as the senior enterprise technology leader responsible for the full lifecycle of our core business applications — spanning property management, reservations, point of sale, ERP, CRM, and productivity platforms — while driving the end-to-end IT workstream for new property openings, acquisitions, and transitions.

Position Overview
This role sits at the intersection of enterprise application ownership, cross-functional stakeholder management, and property-level IT leadership. The right candidate brings deep hospitality technology fluency, a structured approach to project and vendor management, and the ability to translate IT capability into business outcomes for Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Brand leadership. This is not a remote-first role — meaningful property presence is expected, particularly during pre-opening, transition, and platform deployment periods.

Essential Responsibilities

Enterprise Application Management

• Own the strategy, administration, and lifecycle management of Proper’s core enterprise application stack, including Property Management System (Infor HMS), Central Reservation System (CRS), Point of Sale (Toast), ERP, and CRM platforms
• Serve as the primary vendor relationship owner for enterprise application providers; manage contracts, SLAs, escalations, and roadmap alignment across all platforms
• Administer and optimize the Microsoft 365 environment across the portfolio, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Intune; serve as the senior operational owner for M365 platform health, licensing, and end-user enablement
• Lead enterprise application upgrades, integrations, and implementations in partnership with Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Brand stakeholders; ensure changes are tested, documented, and deployed with minimal business disruption
• Partner with the Director of IT Infrastructure on platform availability, hosting requirements, and integration dependencies; coordinate on patching, refresh planning, and SLA requirements for ProperOS and Snowflake-based workloads
• Serve as the primary relationship owner for retained managed service partners; coordinate scope, escalations, and performance accountability to ensure delivery aligns with TSF standards and property-level SLAs

Hotel Openings, Acquisitions & Transitions

• Lead the end-to-end IT pre-opening workstream for new Proper properties from deal close through opening day, coordinating across ownership, construction, brand, and operations stakeholders
• Develop and maintain the Proper pre-opening IT checklist and readiness assessment framework; provide Corporate IT sign-off as required under the TSF — no property opens without this approval
• Manage technology due diligence for hotel acquisitions, including application compatibility review, PMS and CRS transition planning, data migration, and flag-brand technical compliance (e.g., Marriott/MARSHA standards for affiliated properties)
• Oversee MSP and vendor contract transitions at acquired or transitioning properties, including credential recovery, system onboarding, and service continuity planning
• Coordinate on-property technology stack deployment with the Director of IT Infrastructure, field technicians, construction teams, and AV vendors through soft and hard opening milestones

IT Project Management & Governance

• Apply structured project management methodology (PMP or equivalent) to all IT initiatives — pre-openings, platform implementations, application migrations, and vendor transitions — with documented charters, WBS, risk registers, and stakeholder communications
• Manage change control processes for all platform and application changes; ensure changes are presented through the Change Advisory Board process with internal approvals before execution
• Manage the Edge MSP contract restructure — coordinating scope reductions at voice-retained properties and full terminations at monitoring-only properties on a phased timeline through EOY 2026
• Track and report on IT capital and operating budgets for application and platform functions; provide monthly status reporting to the SVP of IT & Security
• Contribute to the annual technology lifecycle capital plan, including application refresh, guest-facing hardware (TVs, thermostats, door locks), and platform investments aligned to TSF lifecycle standards

Cross-Functional Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as the primary IT partner to Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Brand leadership; translate business requirements into technology solutions and represent IT in cross-departmental planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives
• Lead technology onboarding and platform training efforts for new properties and system rollouts; ensure operational teams are equipped and confident in enterprise tools at go-live
• Represent Proper IT externally with ownership groups, brand partners, and vendor communities; communicate technology strategy and project status with executive-level clarity

Cybersecurity & Compliance

• Coordinate with the SVP of IT & Security on security event escalation, compliance documentation, and incident response for platform and application-layer events
• Support PCI DSS 4.2 compliance requirements for payment-integrated platforms (PMS, POS); ensure application-layer controls are current and documented across the portfolio
• Support cyber insurance documentation requirements and participate in tabletop exercises and penetration testing coordination

Team Leadership & Mentorship

• Provide direct leadership, coaching, and day-to-day direction to Property IT Managers across the portfolio; serve as their primary corporate escalation point and advocate for their professional growth
• Mentor Property IT Managers on enterprise application administration, project management discipline, vendor engagement, and career development within the Proper IT organization
• Set and maintain consistent standards for property-level IT documentation, change management, and service delivery; conduct regular property technology reviews to assess performance and identify improvement opportunities
• Travel to properties as needed, with an expectation of approximately 30–40% travel, increasing during active pre-opening, transition, or platform deployment periods

Qualifications

Required

• 8+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 3 years in a multi-property hospitality environment at the corporate or regional level managing enterprise technology platforms
• Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end hotel pre-openings, acquisitions, or technology transitions from initial planning through opening day
• Hands-on experience administering hospitality enterprise applications: PMS (Infor HMS strongly preferred), CRS, POS (Toast preferred), and working familiarity with ERP and CRM platforms in a multi-property context
• Hands-on Microsoft 365 administration experience: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Intune; familiarity with Entra ID, conditional access, and M365 licensing management in a multi-site environment
• Proven IT project management experience across concurrent, geographically distributed initiatives; PMP certification preferred
• Strong cross-functional stakeholder management skills; demonstrated ability to partner with Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Brand leadership to align technology investments with business outcomes
• Working knowledge of PCI DSS compliance requirements and general cybersecurity frameworks (NIST); comfortable coordinating compliance activities across application vendors and operational teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to ownership groups, brand partners, and senior leadership

Preferred

• Experience managing CRM platforms in a hospitality or luxury consumer environment; familiarity with guest data, loyalty integration, or personalization use cases
• Experience with MSP contract management, including vendor transitions, scope restructures, and performance governance
• ITIL Foundation or practitioner certification; familiarity with change management and service desk frameworks in a hospitality context
• Exposure to AI-adjacent or data platform environments (Snowflake, cloud compute) in a hospitality or enterprise setting; comfort partnering with data engineering teams on platform requirements
• Familiarity with Marriott brand technology standards (MARSHA, FOSSE, or Opera PMS compatibility) for affiliated or dual-branded properties
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Hospitality Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience considered

Salary

• $145,000–$165,000
