Description:

Summary/Objective: 

The Corporate Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with customer requirements, federal, state, and local regulations. This role promotes a safe workplace culture, reduces risk, and ensures environmental stewardship within the facilities corporate wide.


Environmental Management System EHS – Corporate Environmental Management

  • Environmental Aspects and Impacts
    1. Work with EHS Coordinators at each manufacturing plant to Identify, evaluate, and maintain the register of environmental aspects and impacts for all manufacturing processes
    2. Determine significance levels and establish control measures for high-risk aspects (e.g., air emissions, waste, water use, chemical handling)
    3. Ensure periodic review and updates to reflect operational, regulatory, or product changes.

 

  • Risk and Opportunity Identification
    1. Lead risk and opportunity assessments with EHS Task Force and Management Team as required.
    2. Work with team to develop action plans for identified environmental risks and opportunities.
    3. Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations to integrate environmental risk considerations into design and process changes.
    4.  Compliance Obligations and Monitoring
      1. Work with each manufacturing location to Identify and maintain a Compliance Obligations covering federal, state, and local requirements.
    • Ensure all permits (air, water, waste) are current and compliance reporting is completed on time.
    • Track corrective and preventive actions to closure for compliance findings.
  • Continual Improvement (CI) Projects
    • Lead and track CI projects targeting environmental performance improvements (e.g., waste minimization, VOC reduction, energy efficiency).
  1. Facilitate brainstorming sessions and Kaizen events focused on reducing environmental impacts corporate wide.
  2. Integrate EHS CI projects with Lean, 5S, or Quality improvement initiatives.
  • Training and Awareness Programs
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver environmental training programs for all employees (e.g., spill response, waste segregation, aspect awareness).
    • Ensure competency-based training for employees whose work can significantly impact the environment.
    • Conduct refresher and induction training to promote a culture of environmental responsibility.
  • Performance Evaluation and Reporting
    • Prepare environmental performance reports for management review.
    • Provide monthly reporting to management on EHS metrics
    • Work with System Management Representative to ensure action plans are in place for low performing metrics.
  • Communication and Leadership
    • Lead plant EHS coordinators and task forces across all locations.
    • Represent EHS Management for Management Review meetings.
    • Communicate corporate environmental policies, objectives, and performance updates to all levels of the organization.
  1. Promote employee engagement in environmental initiatives and improvement activities.
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response
  1. Work with HR to ensure test the environmental emergency response plans (e.g., spill drills, chemical leaks) and held as required and records of effectiveness are maintained. 
  2. Work with EHS Coordinators to ensure necessary spill kits, containment systEHS, and emergency contacts are in place and functional. 
  • System EHS Monitoring
    • Lead, manage, monitor teams to ensure EHS audits are completed as required
    • Participate in ISO 14001 Internal Audits
    • Provide support to all locations during 3rd Party ISO 14001 Audits as well as OSHA and for local, state or federal EHS Onsite visits/audits.
  • Documentation & Compliance
  • Ensure proper document control and timely completion of required paperwork.
  • Maintain compliance with EHS Systems and train employees accordingly.
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
