Reports to – Direction, Planning and Strategic ExecutionRolThe Corporate Planning Engineer supports the Company's long-term strategic planning, business development, capital allocation, and forecasting efforts. The role combines reservoir engineering, financial analysis, and business acumen to evaluate strategic opportunities, develop investment recommendations, and support key planning processes across the organization.Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams, the position develops technical and economic analyses, long-range planning scenarios, and strategic insights that support business decisions and align with the Company's objectives and return thresholds. The role also contributes to business planning, reserves reporting, competitor intelligence, and executive-level communications.Main Job Tasks and ResponsibilitySupport evaluation of acquisitions, divestitures, acreage transactions, and other strategic opportunities through technical and economic analysis.Develop production forecasts, type curves, inventory assessments, economic evaluations, and valuation models to support investment and capital allocation decisions.Coordinate annual business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes in partnership with FP&A and functional teams.Support maintenance and application of the corporate model through scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and downside risk assessment.Conduct competitor intelligence, peer benchmarking, and industry analysis to identify strategic opportunities and risks.Evaluate asset performance, capital efficiency, and inventory quality to support portfolio optimization and development planning decisions.Coordinate corporate reserves reporting, third-party reserve audits, and related management reporting activities.Support Strategic Committee, and Ranch Meeting and IR materials that communicate key business insights and recommendations.Manage corporate planning assumptions and economic parameters utilized in forecasting, valuation, and strategic planning activities.Partner across subsurface, operations, land, finance, and leadership teams to improve planning processes and support execution of corporate strategy.Experience and Education3-10 years of oil and gas industry experienceExperience with forecasting, type curve development, economic evaluation, and reserves processesExposure to corporate development, business planning, asset management, or strategic planning preferredExperience supporting executive-level decision making and presentations preferred.SkillsEconomic evaluation capabilities, including forecasting, reserves, type curve development, and valuation analysis.Strong business and strategic acumen with the ability to integrate technical, operational, and financial considerations into decision‑making.Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs.Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills, including the ability to develop executive-level materials and coordinate cross‑functional initiatives.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across disciplines, influence stakeholders, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.At Anschutz Exploration, we're driven by a shared commitment to company success over individual wins. AEC offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, employer paid life and disability insurance coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, and wellness support.The starting rate for this position is expected to be between $165,000 to $195,000, based on experience, qualifications, and internal pay alignment. Final compensation may vary from this range depending on a variety of factors, including a candidate's education, skills, prior experience, and evolving market conditions.
