Location: San Diego, CA
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax & Accounting Professional to join our team. This is a client-facing position working with a variety of business clients. Responsibilities will include managing existing bookkeeping clients, onboarding new clients, reviewing bookkeeping work, preparing business tax returns, and communicating directly with clients.
The ideal candidate will have strong accounting and tax experience, be comfortable working independently, and enjoy building relationships with business owners.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of existing bookkeeping and accounting clients.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding their accounting, financial statements, and tax needs.
- Onboard new clients and establish accounting processes and procedures.
- Review bookkeeping work for accuracy and completeness.
- Review general ledgers, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements.
- Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements.
- Provide guidance and support to bookkeeping staff.
- Prepare federal and state business tax returns, including Forms 1120, 1120-S, and 1065.
- Prepare tax workpapers and supporting schedules.
- Research tax questions and assist with tax planning as needed.
- Assist clients with accounting and tax questions and resolve issues as they arise.
- Identify opportunities to improve client accounting processes and financial reporting.
- Manage multiple clients and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and client service.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of accounting experience.
- Experience preparing 1120, 1120-S, and 1065 tax returns.
- Strong corporate and partnership tax knowledge.
- Experience with UltraTax CS.
- Strong experience with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
- Experience working with multiple business clients, preferably in an accounting or tax firm.
- Experience reviewing bookkeeping work.
- Strong accounting and financial statement knowledge.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and client-service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Professional, personable, and comfortable communicating directly with business owners.
