POSITION DUTIES

A Correctional Case Management Specialist II is the full performance level of work in assessing and evaluating the personal and criminal history of adult inmates to recommend a security level, and in developing and monitoring appropriate work and educational programs. Employees in this classification do not supervise other positions.

• Provide direct reentry services to incarcerated individuals on the 273-day list;
• Develop individualized transition reentry release plans;
• Coordination of reentry programs within the facility;
• Connect incarcerated individuals to community-based services (to include transitional housing, mental health, substance-abuse treatment, job training programs, correctional education opportunities and identification assistance);
• Prepare individualized resource plan that meets the requirements of the discharge plan for release of the incarcerated individual;
• Coordinate (at a minimum) if applicable, monthly group-exit orientations;
• Conduct reentry assessment interviews;
• Provide referral to internal and external stakeholders, as well as other disciplines;
• Participate in a multi-disciplinary team meetings, to secure needed transitional services;
• Establish community partnerships;
• Engage community-based providers to participate in on-site facility resource fairs;Â
• Coordinate assigned facility Reentry Resource Fairs ((working closely with Director of Community Engagement and Special Projects, Regional and facility (VAC) or designees, Division of Parole and Probation, as well as other internal and community partners to encourage their participation));
• Input data, obtained during assessment evaluations, into shared database systems (OCMS and SharePoint) within the required time-frame (in accordance with applicable guidelines and directives) as outlined in the Reentry Manual and
• Perform all other related duties, as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Â Â A Bachelor''s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three years of experience in assessing inmates'' security risk and inmates'' program needs for the purpose of determining correct security classifications and developing program plans.

Notes:

1. The above educational requirement is set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Title 12, Subtitle 10 of the Code of Maryland Regulations.

2. Candidates may substitute one year of experience as a Correctional Officer for one year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute one year of experience as a Correctional Dietary Officer, Correctional Maintenance Officer or Correctional Supply Officer for one year of the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in correctional classifications or correctional specialty codes in the criminal justice field of work at the rate of two years of military experience for one year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of Correctional training with the DPSCS Academy.
• Experience providing direct Reentry Services to incarcerated individuals and prepared individualized resource plans that meet the requirements of the discharge plan for release.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operatorâs license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees who have not already done so must meet the required selection standards and successfully complete the training prescribed by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission for a Correctional Classification Counselor. Selection standards for correctional training are listed in detail in the Code of Maryland Regulations 12.10.01.04 and include the following:

U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status

Must be at least 21 years of age

A completed background investigation

Oral interview

Physical examination.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
