Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Correctional Med/Surg position requiring 2 years of recent acute care experience and correctional nursing experience.

• Correctional facility setting
• Med/Surg patient population
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• No block scheduling accommodations
• Every other weekend requirement (2 weekends per month)
• Mandatory float facility - all clinicians required to float within scope at facility discretion
• May be floated to other Cook facilities within 50 miles, with notice as little as 2 hours prior to shift start
• Team-based care model used when floated outside primary competency
• Cerner charting system used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand upon consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
• Correctional nursing experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skills required include isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, and cardiac monitoring/emergency response
• Two professional references required prior to start, from most recent employers, one per employer
• Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exceptions
• International candidates must obtain SSN/SSC prior to consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a correctional health services environment
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Free, first-come first-served parking available
• RTO limited to 5 days maximum with no more than 2 consecutive days, and no RTO on weekends
• No holiday RTO and no RTO the day before or after a holiday
• Contract may be canceled if a call-out occurs on a holiday
• Returning clinicians must undergo full recredentialing and reattend orientation regardless of break length
• Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting an assignment
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility at a reduced rate
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment
