The Clay County Sheriff’s Department is accepting applications to be considered for open positions as a Full-Time and Variable Hour (Part-Time) Correctional Officer.
Application Deadline: Open until filled
Status: Non-Exempt
Shifts: Full-time Correctional staff have day and night shifts 7:00-7:00 that rotate every 4 months.
Variable Hour (Part-Time) shifts and hours vary each week. Variable Hour positions will average less than 19 hours per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma
- At least 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation and agility test.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The listed examples may not include all the duties performed by all positions in this class.
- Booking and processing those admitted to the jail.
- Well-being checks, and conduct area searches.
- Provide meals, clothing, programs, and medication to the inmates.
- Maintain security and safety for the Correctional Facility.
