Hiring Bonus:
The bonus is $10,000 spread over 5 years.

The law enforcement professionals of the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, with a staff of over 3,600 dedicated men and women, cover the expanse of over 7,300 square miles in southern California. The Sheriff's Office is dedicated to serving the citizens of its communities with integrity, professionalism, leadership, and loyalty and believes in service above self.• Instruct and train adult inmates and/or assist cooks in the operation of equipment used in food preparation, serving, cleanup, and other kitchen tasks; follow established rules and regulations to maintain the security of the kitchen area; prepare and oversee the preparation of vegetables, salads and salad dressings, and routine desserts and baked goods.
• Participate in the cleaning of food preparation areas, kitchen equipment, dining rooms, and storerooms; observe and inspect the work to ensure adherence to safety and sanitation regulations and practices, and to ensure work is accomplished properly and efficiently.
• Provide valuable firsthand information to improve the quality and quantity of work performed; check work in progress and upon completion to ensure assignees are following daily time schedules; fill in job completion charts during and at the end of assigned shift.
• Assist in receiving food and supply deliveries, checking and storing food and supplies.
• Assist cooks with preparing special diet trays for youth or adult inmates with allergies or diet restrictions.
• Maintain constant control of kitchen utensils, tools and equipment for security purposes.
• Serve food to youth or adult inmates and staff; assist with the general cleanliness of the food services areas; maintain security and discipline in the food service areas.
• Determine quantities of food to prepare.
• Document daily meal counts, transport records and production records.
• Conduct daily inspections of kitchen, food storage and dining areas to ensure cleanliness and security.Experience: One year of experience in the preparation and serving of food that would have developed the knowledges and abilities listed below.
Knowledge of: The methods, practices, utensils, and equipment used in serving food and cleanup activities such as food and dish carts and dishwashers; the techniques, utensils, knives, and equipment used for chopping, slicing, mixing, and measuring foodstuff used in preparing food; sanitation methods and practices associated with food handling and maintaining cleanliness of kitchen and food serving areas and equipment; occupational hazards and safety precautions of kitchen and food service areas and equipment; the preparation and serving of food for special diets.
Ability to: Read, understand, and follow oral and written directions; write simple diet menu instructions; perform simple math calculations; be courteous and tactful with staff members; instruct and train inmates and others in the methods and techniques used in serving food and clean up activities; provide clear and concise oral instructions; maintain effective working relationships with others; prepare and keep simple records pertaining to food service quality control; supervise and inspect the work of Food Service Workers; coordinate the work of Food Service Workers.
