This position is located in “Eloy,AZ”
Pay Rate: $31 / hour

  • Full Time Schedules 
  • Some weekends may be required
  • 8 or 12 hour shifts available depending on the facility
  • Contract Position (flexible with shift availability is a plus)
  • ASAP Start Facility clearance can take 4-8 weeks - can start as soon as cleared LOCAL CANDIDATES ACCEPTED AZ CMA and NHA CCMA accepted - pending client approvals on NAHP NRCMA and NCCT NCMA. 12 week initial duration Days, usually 8x5 U.S. Citizenship, social security card & Driver's License required for facility clearance

Duties:
The Certified Medical Assistant performs and assists with a variety of basic patient care activities under the direction of a physician and supervision of a licensed nurse. * Conduct peripheral venipuncture to collect blood samples from patients/residents and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. * Assist with the administration of oral medications and via subcutaneous and intramuscular routes, as directed by the licensed nurse and according to state scope of practice guidelines. * Assist nurses with EKG's and other diagnostic tests and clinical procedures in accordance with level of training and health services policies and procedures. * Attend sick call with the physician to see inmates/residents; prepare a list of inmates/residents to be examined; prepare examining room and equipment. * Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and obstructed airway techniques. * Dress and bandage wounds; assist with immobilization of bone and joint injuries * Provide oxygen therapy; insert nasal and oral airway as directed by a licensed nurse. *Assist with urinary catheterizations. *Monitor, record and report vital signs and patient's condition as needed; contact doctors, supervisors, hospitals, etc. by phone or radio.

Skills:
*Utilize proper body mechanics to assist moving, lifting, carrying and conveying patients out of housing and/or other areas as necessary. *Control and inventory medication, syringes and other medical supplies or equipment as required by established procedures. *Keep equipment and work area clean; utilize appropriate sanitation methods. *Document and report activities in accordance with established policies and/or procedures including medical file documentation. *Maintain security and confidentiality of all medical records. *Observe and record behavior. *Securely store medical unit supplies and equipment or ensure their safe disposal *Prepare and maintain a variety of standard narrative, statistical, summary and/or operational records, reports and logs, using appropriate grammar, to include filing, alphabetizing and labeling; review reports and records produced on the shifts; properly processes all reports and documents in a timely manner. *Prepare and disseminate safety and accident reports as required by policy; take appropriate action in cases of serious and unusual incidents and emergencies. *Communicate effectively and coherently to administration, staff, inmates/residents, visitors and the general public, particularly in situations requiring tact, diplomacy, understanding, fairness, firmness and good judgment. This includes giving information, instructions and directions. *Coordinate the movement of inmates/residents to and from different areas for medical treatment. *Reliably and repetitively identify inmates/residents by visual means. *Engage in functions in confined areas that include such things as working rotating shifts and physically checking the doors, windows and other areas to verify they are secure. *Endure verbal and mental abuse when confronted with the hostile views and opinions of inmates/residents and others encountered in an antagonistic environment. *Provide medical care for inmates/residents which may result in possible exposure to body fluids, wastes and possible encounters with deceased or contagious persons. *Endeavor to comply with the requirements of applicable regulations, laws, rules, procedures, policies, standards and/or contract. *Establish and maintain effective working relations with others and handle difficult interpersonal contacts. *Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. *Add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. *Interpret an extensive variety of medical and technical instructions in the form of handwritten text, correspondence, policies, regulations, procedures, reports, directions for forms completion and other simple or complex documents. *Remain alert at all times and react quickly, efficiently and calmly in emergency and other high stress situations.

Education:
High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent or greater. Must be state certified as a Medical Assistant in the state of employment or meet the state guidelines for exceptions to certification. A valid driver's license is required.
