The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office is looking for enthusiastic employees to work in the EBR Parish Prison. Responsibilities include supervising inmates, enforcing rules, maintaining order, and ensuring the facility is secure.Key aspects of a Corrections Officer role:Supervision and Monitoring:Observing and monitoring inmate behavior, movement, and activities to prevent disturbances and ensure compliance with rules.Enforcement of Rules and Regulations:Administering disciplinary actions for rule violations, maintaining order, and ensuring adherence to facility policies.Security and Safety:Conducting searches, maintaining security, and responding to emergencies to ensure a safe environment for both staff and inmates.Documentation and Reporting:Maintaining accurate records of inmate activities, incidents, and observations.Interactions with Inmates:Building relationships with inmates, mediating conflicts, and providing guidance to promote positive behavior.Training and Development:Participating in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to correctional practices and procedures.Qualifications: The incumbent must be a minimum age of 18 years; have a high school diploma or equivalent; no felony convictions and no convictions of perjury, false statement or moral turpitude charge as an adult. All other arrests and convictions will be reviewed on a case by-case basis. Must have good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
