Nature of Work

At the Salem Correctional Center and Jail, under general supervision, provides oversight of the daily operations of State Correctional Facilitys Central Receiving, Laundry, Mail Room, State Shop, Inventory Control, ensuring fire safety and sanitation policies and procedures are met or other similarly designated functional area. Responsible for the operation of the area of assignment, as well as the performance of the inmates and/or employees assigned thereto. This position is also utilized to manage specialty assignments to assist with Security and Maintenance Departments. Ensures that all staff and inmates are following Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation policies, institutional operating procedures and post orders. Serves as a lead worker. May be responsible for the acquisition and inventory control of all materials, supplies and equipment necessary for the assigned areas of operations. Performs work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the area of assignment, one year of which must have been in a lead worker capacity.

Substitution: Coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of experience.

  • I have a Bachelor's degree (or at least 120 semester hours) from an accredited college or university.
  • I have a combination of college semester hours AND full-time or equivalent part-time paid work experience to equal a total of at least four (4) years. College semester hours can substitute for the qualifying paid work experience at the rate of thirty (30) semester hours = one (1) year of paid work experience.
  • I do not meet any of the above training and experience requirements. Please do not apply.
