JOB REQUIREMENTS: Northwood College is seeking a part-time Cosmetology
Instructor who is passionate about training the next generation of
professionals. The instructor will provide both classroom and hands-on
instruction, preparing students for success in the field while using
Pivot Point curriculum terminology. This position teaches four days per
week during the 8-week summer semester, scheduled from June 7 through
July 30 in 2027, pending final calendar approval. Classes run
MondayWednesday from 7:30 AM to 4:50 PM and Thursday from 7:30 AM to
4:20 PM, with a shortened final week. The ideal candidate will
communicate regularly with co-instructors to support student success.
Even though the position starts summer of 2027, the successful candidate
will attend New Faculty Orientation on July 1416 and July 2830, 2026, as
well as program-specific training on August 1112, 2026. Northwood Tech
Instructors teach in a discipline area in which they have specific
training and competence. Instructors are expected to foster learner
success, assess learner achievement, and continually improve learning
opportunities. Instructors teach in a variety of learning environments
including face-to-face, online, web-conferencing, and hybrid classrooms.
Instructors are expected to continually improve the overall quality and
delivery of learning, including the support of program and collegewide

plans, employ a variety of formative and summative assessment
strategies, communicate assessment results in a timely fashion to
promote student learning, and use assessment results to improve
instruction. Demonstrate professional behaviors to support teaching and
learning and use varied strategies for managing the learning
environment. Identify exit learning outcomes and external standards,
develop competencies that describe intended learning outcomes, create
performance-based plans and assessment tasks for each course, develop
learning objectives and plans, prepare syllabi, and utilize a quality
review process to validate curriculum. Use a variety of data analysis
tools, analyze data from teaching and learning experiences, and use data
to inform decision making about the teaching and learning process.
Create and maintain an inclusive, effective learning environment that
addresses barriers and provides reasonable accommodations. May be
a signed to mentor high school teachers who offer Northwood
Tech-articulated courses. Model the Employability Essentials expected of
Northwood Tech students, which are to communicate clearly, demonstrate
professionalism, think critically, and consider varying perspectives.
Designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) to receive and report
criminal incidents to the Northwood Tech Safety Office by virtue of this
role's responsibilities at the College (only applies to instructor
positions with club advising duties). Perform other duties as assigned.
* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Degree & Experience
Required: Valid State of Wisconsin Cosmetology License or ability to
successfully obtain license prior to start of employment contract
Bachelor's degree in the field or closely related field and 2 years
(4,000 hours) of occupational experience, of which at least 1 year
(2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to the date of appointment.
OR 1-year technical diploma in the field or closely related field and 5
years (10,000 hours) of occupational experience, of which at least 1
year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to the date of
appointment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to obtain
