COSMETOLOGY TEACHER

Poteet ISD is accepting applications for the position of Cosmetology Teacher.  All interested individuals must submit and application along with the required documentation.

Qualifications are as follows:

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Career Technology Teacher, under the supervision of the Principal, provides students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.  Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in school and society.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

•      Associates Degree or higher

•      Current license as a Cosmetology Instructor issued by the Texas Department of Licensure and Regulation.

•      Trade and Industrial Education Certification with approval to teach Cosmetology or be eligible to enroll in an approved            teacher preparation program to teach Cosmetology.

•      Five (5) years direct work experience in the field (required).

•      Experience in providing training or instruction (preferred).

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

•      Knowledge of subjects assigned

•      General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

•      Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1      Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the District’s curriculum program and show written            evidence of preparation as required.

2.     Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.

3.     Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies and                              administrative regulations.

4.     Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.

5.     Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and 

        teachers.

6.     Conduct scheduled opportunities outside of the school day for students to accumulate contact hours towards                          cosmetology licensure.

7.     Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Daily attendance and punctuality at work on time every day are essential functions of the job.  Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, lifting and pushing.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

 SALARY:  Teacher Salary 

 MINIMUM WORK DAYS:  197    

 TYPE OF ASSIGNMENT: Full-Time, Exempt
