Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm

This Cost Accountant role in Cerritos is for someone who understands the full picture, not just A/R and A/P. You track the details, close things out, and keep the numbers accurate.

Job Duties

• Review active SKUs and establish accurate manufacturing run rates
• Analyze labor standards, overhead assumptions, and production requirements
• Validate work centers, manufacturing routings, and product classifications
• Partner with Production, R&D, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to confirm manufacturing processes and achievable run rates
• Identify and correct master data discrepancies within SYSPRO
• Support accurate costing, capacity planning, and financial reporting
• Recommend process and data improvements to enhance manufacturing and costing accuracy

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Professional accounting certifications or continuing education are beneficial.

Experience Requirements

• Experience preparing, reviewing, and maintaining financial records and accounting documentation.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience using accounting software, spreadsheets, and enterprise financial systems.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive financial information.
• ERP experience required; SYSPRO experience strongly preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in accounting, financial analysis, auditing, budgeting, or corporate finance is preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar accounting software is beneficial.
• Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, tax preparation, compliance, or internal controls is considered an asset.
• Individuals who demonstrate professionalism, analytical thinking, accuracy, and strong organizational skills are well positioned for success as a Cost Accountant.

• Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods.
• Ability to review detailed financial documents and perform accurate data analysis.
• Ability to occasionally lift office materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

What You Will Do

As a Cost Accountant you will prepare and analyze financial reports, maintain general ledger accounts, reconcile financial records, support budgeting activities, monitor financial transactions, assist with audits, ensure compliance with accounting standards, prepare journal entries, and help provide accurate financial information that supports business operations and strategic decision-making.

• Review SKUs and establish appropriate manufacturing run rates based on product characteristics, including die size, formulation complexity/number of ingredients, fill type, gelatin type, and other manufacturing requirements.
• Define and validate standard labor hours and manufacturing assumptions for each SKU.
• Analyze product categories such as oils, pastes, animal-based oils, vegetable oils, gelatin types, and other formulation attributes that influence production rates.
• Validate the correct work centers and manufacturing routings for each SKU.
• Ensure labor and overhead standards align with the appropriate work centers and operational processes.
• Review and correct product class assignments.
• Partner with R&D and Production to confirm actual manufacturing processes, equipment requirements, and achievable run rates.
• Work with Finance and Supply Chain to ensure operational standards support accurate costing, capacity planning, and financial analysis.
• Identify master-data gaps and recommend corrections to improve manufacturing and costing accuracy.
