Cost Accountant / Project AccountantLocation: Charlotte, NC (Onsite) – Direct HirePosition SummaryResponsible for the accurate recording, reporting, reconciliation, and analysis of Machine Tools Division revenue, costs, orders, backlog, and inventory. This role serves as a key liaison between Project Managers and Accounting while supporting billing, cost analysis, inventory management, month‑end close, and financial reporting activities. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, manufacturing experience, and advanced Excel skills.Cost Accounting & Financial AnalysisTrack and reconcile project costs from order entry through shipment.Analyze actual costs versus projected costs and investigate variances.Monitor machine order profitability and margin performance.Record and reconcile warranty, installation, and freight accruals.Support lower‑of‑cost or market (LOCM) analysis.Billing & Revenue RecognitionReview customer contracts and prepare milestone billings.Invoice machine shipments and installation services.Manage service contract revenue.Prepare inter‑company billings to parent and sister companies.Support accurate and timely revenue recognition.Inventory & General LedgerManage cycle‑count and consignment inventory programs.Reconcile inventory and related general ledger accounts.Prepare inventory reporting, analysis, and management dashboards.Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.Month‑End CloseCreate and post journal entries.Reconcile accounts and support monthly financial close activities.Monitor aging machine orders and close completed orders.Project AccountingPartner with Project Managers to maintain budget forecasts.Track costs and profitability on complex machine orders.Support operational teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment and billing.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Accounting3–5 years of accounting experienceManufacturing accounting experience requiredCost accounting experience requiredGeneral ledger and account reconciliation experienceInventory accounting experienceAdvanced Microsoft ExcelMicrosoft WordERP system experienceDynamics Great Plains preferredReporting software experienceStrong analytical skillsExcellent communication skillsHigh attention to detailAbility to manage multiple prioritiesStrong initiative and ownership mentalityAbility to work cross-functionally with operations and project teamsEstimated Pay RangeEstimated Min Rate: $56,000.00Estimated Max Rate: $80,000.00BenefitsMedical, Prescription, Dental & Vision Benefits (for employees working 20+ hours per week)Health Savings Account (HSA) (for employees working 20+ hours per week)Life & Disability Insurance (for employees working 20+ hours per week)MetLife Voluntary BenefitsEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)401K Retirement Savings PlanDirect Deposit & weekly e‑payrollReferral Bonus ProgramsCertification and training opportunitiesEqual Opportunity EmployerYoh, a Day & Zimmermann company, is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
