Cost Accountant


Compensation: $70,000–$85,000 + Bonus + Profit Sharing

Cost Accountant | High-Impact Manufacturing Accounting Opportunity


Our client is seeking a Cost Accountant to join a growing manufacturing organization in the Greater Hartford area. This is a highly visible role that offers direct exposure to leadership, operations, and strategic decision-making.


This position is ideal for an accounting professional looking to expand their experience beyond traditional accounting responsibilities and gain exposure to costing, inventory management, financial planning, and operational analysis. You'll play a key role in helping the organization improve profitability, strengthen inventory controls, and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities



  • Maintain and analyze product costing and inventory accounting processes

  • Perform standard cost, inventory, and variance analysis

  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations

  • Analyze labor, material, and overhead variances

  • Partner with operations to monitor inventory levels, scrap activity, and metal utilization

  • Assist with margin analysis, pricing reviews, and profitability reporting

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives

  • Participate in inventory counts and inventory control procedures

  • Assist with audit preparation and financial reporting requirements

  • Identify opportunities to improve costing methodologies and inventory processes


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field

  • 2+ years of cost accounting experience or accounting experience within a manufacturing environment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Understanding of inventory accounting and manufacturing operations

  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills preferred

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and operations teams
