Cost Accountant


Location: Elkhart, Indiana (Fully Onsite)
Salary Range: $80,000 – $90,000


Position Summary


We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our manufacturing team in Elkhart, Indiana. This fully onsite position is ideal for an accounting professional with a strong manufacturing background who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys partnering with operations to improve profitability. The successful candidate will play a key role in cost accounting, inventory management, financial analysis, and reporting while supporting strategic business decisions through accurate and timely financial information.


Key Responsibilities




  • Collect, analyze, and report manufacturing cost data, including standard costs, cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory valuation, and cost variances.




  • Maintain standard costs, create and validate Bills of Material (BOMs), manage new item setup, and monitor inventory costing accuracy.




  • Prepare variance analysis comparing expected versus actual manufacturing costs and provide actionable insights to operations and leadership.




  • Perform financial modeling, ad hoc analysis, and special projects to support operational improvements and business performance.




  • Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to improve processes, support cross-functional initiatives, and maintain compliance with GAAP and company policies.




Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.




  • Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.




  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, standard costing, inventory accounting, BOMs, and variance analysis.




  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar.




  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
