Job Title: Cost Accountant
Location: Ewing, New Jersey
Type: Contract
Compensation: $25 - $32 hourly
Work Model: Hybrid – Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday onsite
Hours: Mon - Fri, 8:30am - 4:30pm (37.5 hours weekly)

Overview:
Seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to analyze manufacturing costs, prepare financial reports, and support cost efficiency initiatives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Hybrid role requiring collaboration across teams, with a focus on cost analysis, budgeting, and process improvements.


Responsibilities:

  • Cost Analysis and Reporting: Analyze manufacturing costs, including material, labor, and overhead, to provide accurate financial reports and insights.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with company financial goals and strategies.
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis to compare actual costs against budgeted or standard costs and provide explanations for discrepancies.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and evaluate inventory levels, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods, to ensure accurate valuation and cost control.
  • Product Costing: Develop and maintain product cost models, ensuring accurate calculation of standard costs and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports related to manufacturing costs for management review, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements that enhance cost efficiency and accuracy.
  • Compliance and Auditing: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Assist with internal and external audits related to manufacturing costs.
  • System Management: Utilize ERP systems to manage and analyze cost data effectively, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.


Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle is preferred.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build effective working relationships.
