We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and highly analytical Permanent Cost Accountant to join our team in the Healthcare industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting cost analyses, implementing cost standards for materials and labor, preparing cost forecasts, and examining financial records to ensure their accuracy. This role is integral to our business's financial planning and decision-making processes, providing insightful information to our management team that will drive business strategy and allow for the maximization of profits.
Responsibilities
1. Conduct regular cost analyses on the company’s operations, comparing factual figures against budgeted ones and identifying variances.
2. Implement cost standards for materials and labor, designing and implementing cost accounting systems as required.
3. Prepare detailed reports, both periodically and ad-hoc, to present to management, providing them with the necessary financial information to make informed business decisions.
4. Examine financial records to ensure their accuracy, reconciling any discrepancies found.
5. Collaborate with the company’s auditors during audit processes, providing all necessary information and answering queries.
6. Work closely with production and procurement departments to develop and implement cost-saving measures.
7. Monitor inventory and analyze cost reports, statements, and other financial data.
8. Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
9. Assist in the preparation and coordination of the audit process.
10. Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
11. Develop and implement cost-effective solutions for financial reporting.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CMA or CPA) will be considered a plus.
2. 5+ years of proven work experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Accountant or similar role in the healthcare industry.
3. Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and principles.
4. In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5. Hands-on experience with accounting software, like SAP.
6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
7. Excellent analytical skills with an emphasis on forecasting and budgeting.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
10. Strong ethics, with the ability to manage confidential data.
