Key Responsibilities of the Cost Accountant



  • Maintain and analyze standard costing, inventory valuation, and product costing across manufacturing operations

  • Prepare monthly inventory reconciliations, cost analyses, and journal entries

  • Support month-end close activities related to inventory, manufacturing costs, and cost of goods sold

  • Analyze manufacturing variances, labor, material, and overhead costs while providing actionable recommendations

  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Production teams to improve cost visibility and operational performance

  • Assist with annual standard cost updates, budgeting, and forecasting activities

  • Support inventory cycle counts, physical inventories, and audit requirements

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes and recommend cost-saving opportunities and process improvements

  • Prepare financial reports and ad hoc analysis for leadership



Qualifications for the Cost Accountant



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • 3–5 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment

  • Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and cost of goods sold

  • Experience supporting month-end close, inventory reconciliations, and financial reporting

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required

  • Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment

  • CPA or CMA preferred, but not required

  • Medical device or highly regulated manufacturing experience is a plus

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements
