Description

Ludlum Measurements, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Cost Accountant to join our accounting team in Sweetwater, Texas.

The Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate product costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing cost information to support business operations. This position works closely with Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and Finance to ensure inventory accuracy, monitor manufacturing costs, analyze variances, and assist with month-end closing activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and enjoys working in a manufacturing environment.

Job Type: Full-Time, In-Person

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Maintain standard costs for manufactured products and assist with annual cost update
  • Monitor material, labor, and overhead costs to ensure accurate product costing
  • Analyze manufacturing variances and investigate unusual cost fluctuations
  • Reconcile inventory accounts and assist with maintaining inventory accuracy
  • Participate in physical inventories and cycle count programs
  • Prepare inventory and cost-related journal entries during the monthly close process
  • Assist with inventory reserves, obsolete inventory analysis, and inventory valuation
  • Review bills of materials (BOMs) and routing information for cost accuracy
  • Work with Purchasing and Production to improve costing accuracy and inventory processes
  • Prepare routine cost and inventory reports for management.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting by providing cost data and production information
  • Assist internal and external auditors with inventory and cost accounting documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures and internal control
  • Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned


    Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Two to five years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding of cost accounting and inventory accounting principles
  • Experience working with ERP or manufacturing software preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Occasionally walk through manufacturing and warehouse areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
