Sterling Engineering is hiring a Cost Accountant for a growing manufacturing organization seeking an analytical accounting professional to support plant operations and financial reporting. This role offers a great opportunity to partner directly with operations leadership while owning key aspects of cost accounting, financial analysis, and month-end close activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries for month-end close activities in accordance with US GAAP
- Perform general ledger account analysis and balance sheet reconciliations using BlackLine
- Support month-end financial closing processes
- Analyze manufacturing costs, sales performance, and profit margins
- Manage and maintain the standard cost accounting system
- Process monthly accruals and reconcile month-end financial transactions
- Partner with operations leadership to analyze manufacturing performance and cost trends
- Ensure compliance with Corporate Accounting Policies and internal controls
- Adhere to SOX compliance requirements and maintain audit-ready documentation
Qualifications:
- Must have 3-5+ years of experience in cost accounting
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and general accounting principles
- Experience with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Knowledge of standard costing methodologies and manufacturing accounting practices
