Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team on a contract or contract-to-hire basis. This role will play a key part in managing cost structures, analyzing production and operational expenses, and supporting data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment and enjoys collaborating across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and maintain standard costs for products and services, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business operations
- Monitor and report on cost variances, providing actionable insights to management
- Support month-end and year-end close processes related to cost accounting
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams to evaluate cost efficiencies and process improvements
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities, particularly related to cost of goods sold (COGS) and operational expenses
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, documentation, and internal controls
- Prepare detailed financial reports and dashboards for leadership review
- Participate in inventory accounting, cycle counts, and reconciliation processes
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a technology or manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
- Experience with data analysis tools or BI platforms is a plus
- Solid understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
