Job Description

Integrated Talent Strategies (ITS) is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to work with a top company in the Austin, TX area. This company is highly reputable with several awards for growth, equality, and safety.
  • This is a full-time, long-term position with growth opportunities.
  • 1st shift position: Monday and Friday 8am-5pm onsite.

This Cost Accounting Manager oversees the organization’s cost accounting systems, inventory valuation, manufacturing accounting, and financial analysis related to production costs. This role ensures accurate cost reporting, supports budgeting and forecasting, improves profitability, and helps management make informed operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of cost accounting operations, including:
    • Standard costing
    • Product costing
    • Inventory accounting
    • Variance analysis
    • Manufacturing cost analysis
  • Prepare and review:
    • Monthly cost reports
    • Inventory reconciliations
    • Journal entries
    • Financial statements related to inventory and production
  • Analyze manufacturing variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain and improve cost accounting systems, processes, and internal controls.
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, and production teams to:
    • Monitor labor and material costs
    • Improve efficiency
    • Reduce waste
    • Support pricing decisions
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing activities related to inventory and cost accounting.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • GAAP
    • Company policies
    • Audit requirements
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
  • Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
  • Assist with ERP system implementations or upgrades.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or cost accounting
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Standard costing
    • Inventory accounting
    • GAAP
    • Financial analysis
  • Experience with ERP systems such as:
    • SAP ERP
    • Oracle NetSuite
    • Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Advanced proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Financial reporting tools
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
