We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cost Accounting Manager to lead the cost accounting function and support the organization's financial performance. This role is responsible for overseeing cost analysis, inventory valuation, and financial reporting related to cost of goods sold. The Cost Accounting Manager will partner closely with operations and leadership to provide insights that drive profitability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee all aspects of cost accounting, including inventory, standard costing, and cost of goods sold
Develop, implement, and maintain cost accounting systems, policies, and procedures
Analyze manufacturing or operational costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to cost accounting
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis (material, labor, overhead)
Maintain and update standard costs and perform periodic cost rolls
Partner with operations, supply chain, and leadership teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making
Ensure accurate inventory valuation and compliance with GAAP
Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing detailed cost analysis
Assist with internal and external audits and provide required documentation
Drive process improvements and system enhancements within the cost accounting function
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on cost accounting
Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred:
CPA, CMA, or MBA
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment
Experience with standard costing and inventory management
