We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Cost Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team. This is a permanent position in the Engineering industry, where you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our financial performance and direct cost accounting operations. You will be responsible for developing and implementing effective cost accounting systems and procedures. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in cost accounting and a passion for analysis and strategic planning.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage the operations of the cost accounting department including the design and maintenance of the cost accounting system and related procedures.
2. Develop and implement cost standards for materials and labor.
3. Prepare and present cost reports, including forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses.
4. Coordinate with other departments to establish standard costs and update them as necessary.
5. Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.
6. Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
7. Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research, and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability.
8. Ensure timely and accurate inventory and cost of goods sold accounting.
9. Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules, and others.
10. Manage month-end close of the General Ledger with respect to inventory and cost of goods sold.
11. Supervise and mentor a team of cost accountants.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. An advanced degree or professional certification such as CMA, CPA is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience in a managerial role, preferably in the engineering industry.
3. Extensive knowledge of cost accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
4. Proficient in cost accounting software, databases, and systems.
5. Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial and manufacturing data.
6. Excellent leadership and supervisory skills.
7. Ability to work independently, manage large, complex projects, and meet deadlines.
8. Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
10. High attention to detail and accuracy.
11. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
12. Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
