Key responsibilities:
Serve as a client-facing Cost Consultant who assists with strategic, tactical, and technical advice
Interface with clients, external and internal consultants at all project stages.
Conduct feasibility studies and produce procurement reports
Produce ROMs for new and pipeline projects for a project budget to be based on.
Day to day cost management of medium-large scale client projects including procurement, pay requests, change management and cost reporting.
Apply value management techniques at the outset of a project involving existing protocols and systems.
Manage the procurement process, ensuring that all stages including, pre-qualification, enquiry, evaluation, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively.
Ensure post contract cost variances, change control, cost checking and valuation processes are managed effectively.
Ensure the production of monthly post contract and cost reports and present them to the client.
Provide value engineering and life cycle costing.
Update benchmarking efforts as new projects are executed to provide real cost data to client.
Conducts feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, writing and undertaking procurement reports.
Applies the value management techniques at the outset of a project.
Manages, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
Assists in procurement and selection of main contractor.
Prepares contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses and assist formal execution by the appropriate parties
Advises on administration of the terms of the building contract.
Measures and provides valuations of the work carried out and adjust variations in accordance with the terms of the contract and agree with the contractor.
Provides cost control and reporting services during the contract.
Prepares financial reports for the client in the form and at the frequency required.
Identifies all costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges.
Participates in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by the contractor and any nominated subcontractors/suppliers.Advises on the issue of certificates of practical completion and ensure that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
Advises on issue of certificate of making good defects and final completion in accordance with any requirements relating to completion, submissions and approval.
You'll Need To Have:
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related field (MS, MBA preferred)
Proven experience in cost consultancy.
Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience working in a cost management role in the construction industry
Experience supporting cost management on large sized construction projects of medium to high complexity.
Cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.
Sound understanding of costs and timescales of work undertaken and implications of risk of failure to deliver.
Understanding different types of contract including the method of measurement.
Negotiation skills.
Note: The estimated salary for this position is $115,000 USD. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
