POSITION PURPOSE
The logistics cost specialist will lead cost control activities across the operational support functions. The position is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting Logistics expenditure, supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles, and ensuring alignment with annual work plans and financial targets. The role requires strong financial acumen and the ability to collaborate with field and office-based operations and supply chain teams. The successful candidate will proactively identify cost risks and opportunities, support performance improvement initiatives, and provide clear, timely, and actionable cost insights to operational leadership.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Track, analyse, and report actual Logistics expenditure across operational cost centres, validating invoices and spend against work executed.
• Support the development and maintenance of Logistics budgets and forecasts in collaboration with operations, maintenance, and planning teams.
• Conduct variance analysis and explain deviations from budget or forecast, escalating key risks or opportunities to leadership.
• Support month-end close and accrual processes, including cost coding and allocation accuracy, and reconciliation with finance systems.
• Collaborate with supply chain and contract owners to monitor service contract spend and performance.
• Develop and maintain cost dashboards, reports, and tools that enable transparent and effective cost management.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of cost control processes, systems, and tools in the operations environment.
• Provide cost insights to enable timely, informed decision-making by operational leaders.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Formal Qualifications
• Relevant cost control or accounting certifications desirable.
Experience/Requirements
Skills / Technical Competencies
• Strong understanding of Logistics cost drivers in the oil and gas industry.
• Proficient in MS Excel, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and cost reporting tools.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including with field-based teams.
• Ability to distill financial data into clear operational insights.
Experience
• Cost control or finance experience, with a strong preference for Logistics support exposure in an upstream E&P environment.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in an operational context.
• Exposure to complex field operations and contract services preferred.
