Description

Key Responsibilities of a Cost Controller

  • Manage and monitor product costing across raw materials, recipes/formulations, production, packaging, and logistics to ensure accurate standard and actual costs.
  • Analyze cost variances (materials, labor, overhead) and work closely with operations, supply chain, and R&D to identify efficiencies and corrective actions.
  • Support pricing strategy by providing margin analysis, cost breakdowns, and profitability insights by product line, customer, and channel.
  • Oversee inventory valuation, waste, yield, and usage controls, particularly for perishable ingredients and complex formulations.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing costs, ensuring alignment with production plans and commercial goals.
  • Prepare regular cost reports and dashboards for leadership, translating data into clear, actionable financial insights.

A successful candidate is a detail‑driven finance professional with strong experience in manufacturing cost control, ideally within food or ingredients‑based environments. They combine solid technical skills in cost accounting, variance analysis, and inventory management with a practical understanding of production processes and formulations.
