Cost Estimator

Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | Mon-Fri 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm (flexible based on candidate preference)

Join trak group in partnering with a growing client in Springdale, Ohio that’s expanding its Manufacturing team. 
Position Summary
We are seeking an Applications Cost Estimator to develop accurate cost estimates and technical proposals for custom industrial machinery projects. This role works closely with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and suppliers to evaluate customer requirements, develop machine concepts, estimate labor and material costs, and prepare competitive proposals. The ideal candidate combines strong technical aptitude with analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings, machine schematics, and technical specifications to develop machine concepts and project estimates.

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for custom industrial machinery, including material, labor, outsourced components, and specialty equipment.

  • Develop accurate pricing models and bid calculations using Microsoft Excel.

  • Prepare comprehensive technical proposals that clearly define machine functionality, scope, and project requirements.

  • Present cost estimates and proposals for management review and approval.

  • Collaborate with Regional Sales Managers and customers to clarify project requirements and machinery specifications.

  • Meet bid submission deadlines while managing multiple estimates and proposal activities simultaneously.

  • Maintain project documentation and customer information within the CRM system.

  • Obtain supplier quotations and coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, and system integrators to support proposal development.

  • Lead project definition meetings to transition awarded projects to Engineering and Manufacturing teams.

  • Participate in engineering design reviews and support concept development throughout the proposal process.

  • Assist with process development and product testing activities as needed.

  • Participate in post-project budget reviews and analyze project performance against original estimates.

  • Represent the organization professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred;equivalent experience in engineering, estimating, manufacturing, or a related technical field will be considered.

  • 3–5 years of estimating, applications engineering, manufacturing, or related industrial experience.

  • Knowledge of basic engineering principles and manufacturing processes.

  • Basic CAD knowledge preferred.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Experience preparing detailed cost estimates, proposals, and project budgets.

  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

  • Experience working with CRM systems is preferred.
