Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Costing Engineer to join a dynamic manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in providing accurate cost estimates during the quoting process for new products, as well as maintaining and analyzing standard costs for existing product lines. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of engineering knowledge, cost analysis expertise, and cross-functional collaboration skills to help drive informed business decisions and optimize operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze raw material, labor, tooling, and equipment costs to support the quoting process and ensure accurate project estimations.
  • Develop detailed cost models based on technical documents, blueprints, and supplier quotations.
  • Maintain and report on standard product costs, providing insights and updates to sales, operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including sales, engineering, procurement, and operations to ensure alignment between cost estimates and project objectives.
  • Maintain accurate product data including Bills of Materials (BOMs), process routings, and purchasing specifications through proper change management.
  • Translate product specifications and customer requirements into comprehensive cost estimates for both new and existing products.
  • Utilize cost estimation tools and methodologies to ensure consistency and reliability in cost data.
  • Identify and quantify cost risks and uncertainties to support more robust cost modeling.
  • Establish and review production process costs and tooling expenses, recommending improvements where applicable.
  • Perform variance analysis and use findings to propose cost-saving initiatives and process enhancements.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of manufacturing variances to identify cost drivers and trends.
  • Support cost monitoring, trend analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in special projects and provide costing support to internal teams and customers as needed.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in cost estimating or manufacturing engineering roles.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as metal stamping, welding, plating, heat treating, mechanical assembly, and CNC machining is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Syteline or similar), Excel, SolidWorks, Outlook, and project management tools (e.g., MS Project).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
