Job description:

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), PRN (as needed), to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in occupational therapy practices, with a focus on assisting patients across diverse settings to regain independence and improve their quality of life. The COTA will collaborate closely with licensed occupational therapists to implement personalized care plans and deliver patient-centered care.

Duties

  • Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, dressing, and mobility to promote independence.
  • Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions in diverse settings including acute care, outpatient clinics, and home health environments.
  • Monitor patient progress and document responses to therapy interventions accurately within medical records.
  • Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and strategies to enhance functional outcomes at home or in community settings.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment that adheres to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the development of care plans by providing insights into patient progress and therapy effectiveness.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy practices.
  • Ability to interpret medical imaging reports and integrate findings into patient care strategies.
  • Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach tailored to individual needs.
  • Proficiency in developing and modifying care plans based on patient progress and interdisciplinary team input.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques within medical environments such as hospitals or clinics.
