BELHAVEN UNIVERSITY Faculty Position in Counseling Belhaven University, a Christian university committed to the ministry of integrating biblical truth and learning, is searching for the ideal candidate for a Professor in the Department of Counseling for the online master s degree in Jackson, Mississippi. This is an open- rank, tenure -track position. Rank is designated based on previous experience in higher education. The Counseling Department values strong partnerships within the community and within the university. Current faculty are collaborative and collegial with other departments working together on recru itment and other projects. The counseling program at Belhaven University is an integrative Christian counseling program that is grounded in family systems theory and values a trauma -informed approach to counseling. Our Master of Arts in Counseling degree offers a mixture of synchronous and asynchronous courses al ong with two in -person residencies. The position offered is for a core faculty member involved in teaching and supervising students and is on our Jackson, MS campus. The ideal candidate can assist with various duties related to the CACREP accreditation process as directed, along with other core faculty members and the program director. Belhaven University strives to ensure that the faculty members focus is on instructing students. Responsibilities • Model an active Christian faith and inspire students to pursue excellence as counselors and scholars • Teaching masters level courses as directed. Courses ideally will be assigned based on the candidates expertise and strengths. However, the pre ferred candidate will be able to teach across the curriculum. • Expected to teach 24 credit hours each school year • Help facilitate in -person residencies for 1 week each summer • Group supervision of practicum and internship students as needed • Course development or revisions of previous courses as needed • Administrative duties related to the CACREP accreditation process as needed • Core faculty are expected to maintain active participation in clinical practice in some capacity Required Qualification s • PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision or other equivalent doctoral degree from a CACREP -accredited program • Be licensed as an LPC (or equivalent state licensure) in the state with which you reside and have maintained involvement in clinical practice and be eligible to become licensed as an LPC in MS • A Christ -centered, integrative approach to counseling • Agree to the Belhaven statement of faith • Familiarity with CACREP accreditation standards and policies is preferred • Prior teaching experience in an online environme nt is preferred • Prior experience developing online courses at the masters level is preferred Please review Belhaven Universitys Commitment Statement including our employee expectations.
