Working Hours and/or Working Conditions
HOURS: Maximum of 25 hours per week. Work hours/days will be within office hours of the department. WORKING CONDITIONS: Travel between campuses and off-campus locations may be required for campus liaison and professional meeting activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to interpret medical, psychological, and educational documentation to determine accommodations. Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and multilingual learners (preferred). Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in technology and student information systems. Knowledge of shared governance, community college mission, and accessibility best practices.
Supervision
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Director of Student Access Services and Support Programs but may take direction from other divisional administrations as directed. May receive direction and/or training from full-time student access services counselors as assigned. SUPERVISION GIVEN: N/A
Job Function
The Student Access Services Counselor provides holistic counseling and advising services that support students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and students developing writing skills in achieving academic, career, and personal goals. As part of the Counseling and Academic Advising Department, this role supports exploratory and declared students by removing barriers to success, promoting well-being, identifying reasonable accommodations, fostering persistence, progress, and completion.

Education
A master's degree in counseling or social work and State of Michigan LPC or LLPC required.
Qualifications
Experience in higher education, counseling or advising preferred.
