Description:
Assist in the planning, organization, implementation, and oversight of daily schedule of activities for youth in both indoor and outdoor after school recreational settings.
Duties:
Provide direct leadership and supervision to assigned BASE (Before & After School) programs and services.
Provide developmentally appropriate activities that meet the needs and interests of the participants.
Implement activities in program setting according to established schedule.
Assist in the development and implementation of goals and objectives specific to area of responsibility.
Assist in the evaluation of programs and services in the assigned area of responsibility.
Participate with program participants in scheduled daily activities.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of reports and records regarding program participants, programs, and services.
Maintain areas in a clean, organized, and neat manner.
Accompany program participants on field trips.
May transport supplies using a park district vehicle.
Assist with the purchase, distribution, and maintenance of proper inventory of all supplies and materials.
Establish cooperative working relationships with co-workers and parents.
Attend pertinent departmental/park district meetings and in-house training sessions.
Conduct self-according to the policies and procedures established by the park district.
Wear assigned uniforms while on duty.
Participate in District safety and training program to ensure that the work performed and services provided are implemented in a safe manner.
Age:
16 years and older.
Education:
Junior in high school or higher grade level.
High school diploma preferred.
Some college desired.
Experience:
Working with youth.
Supervision of groups of youth in a recreational setting preferred.
Knowledge:
General knowledge of recreation, parks, and leisure service field.
General knowledge of day camp and after-school programs and services.
General knowledge of developmentally appropriate activities for youth in a recreational environment.
License / Certification:
Valid driver's license required for programs including transportation, preferred if not including transportation.
First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within one (1) year.
Hours:
Monday - Friday morning hours from 6:45am -9:00am with some additional hours as needed.
Hours may vary depending on program needs.
