Job Purpose:
The Counselor I at Behavioral Health Services Inc is responsible for providing direct counseling services to clients, supporting their mental health and well-being. The role involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care and support to individuals facing various behavioral health challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address clients mental health needs and promote positive behavioral change. • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on clients needs, goals, and progress. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal and ethical standards. • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and provide holistic support to clients. • Participate in case conferences and team meetings to discuss client progress and treatment strategies. • Provide crisis intervention services as needed, offering immediate support and guidance to clients in distress. • Educate clients and their families about mental health issues, treatment options, and coping strategies. • Stay informed about the latest developments in the field of behavioral health and incorporate evidence-based practices into counseling sessions. • Assist in the development and delivery of community outreach programs to raise awareness about mental health and available services. • Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and professional codes of conduct to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Required Education:
Counseling certification.
Required Experience:
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a counseling or mental health setting. • Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of cultural sensitivities. • Familiarity with behavioral health services and therapeutic practices.
Required Skills and Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. • Ability to conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans. • Proficient in crisis intervention and conflict resolution. • Knowledge of ethical and legal standards in counseling practice. • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. • Proficiency in using electronic health records and other relevant software applications.
