Revised 2/4/2025 MONTGOMERY COUNTY JUVENILE PROBATION DEPARTMENT JOB TITLE: Counselor (part time) SALARY: $30/hour BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES : The Counselor is responsible to the Clinical Supervisor for the provision of counseling services. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES : Provide counseling services to assigned juveniles and famil ies in the Juvenile Justice System Provide counseling services by utilizing in- home or office settings for individual, family, or group sessions Provide parenting skills classes as directed Identify juvenile needs that cannot be addressed in -house and make appropriate referral recommendations Maintain accurate and timely written reports related to the juveniles' participation and progress in counseling Actively participate in weekly staff meetings providing recommendations for counseling services Provide court testimony as directed Perform other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS : Training and Experience: Master's degree in social work, counseling, or psychology LPC, LMFT, or LMSW, preferred ; LPC -Intern or LMFT -Associate is acceptable. Bi-lingual (Spanish speaking) preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Revised 2/4/2025 Commitment to the department's vision of developing people to their full potential Knowledge of counseling theories and interventions Ability to work with juvenile clients and their family Ability to administer group counseling Ability to work in a team atmosphere Additional Requirements : Must be ab le to work Monday through Friday, daytime hours Must have a telephone at which he/she can be reached Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License (if employee is coming to this position from another state, this requirement must be met no later than 30 days following the date of employment) Must have access to an automobile that can be used while on duty and have liability insurance Must be able to pass physical agility test Note : Employees who have received a disciplinary action equal to or greater than a Written Reprimand, in the last 90 days, are not eligible for Promotion or consideration for movement to an Open shift .
