Provide counseling services that support students and community citizens in their personal academic, social, and career needs. Advise prospective and current students about academic programs, career pathways, and career choices. Maintain academic records for students in Allied Health programs; coordinate activities related to admissions and key college recruiting efforts. Develop and coordinate programs which contribute to overall development of student achievement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide academic counseling for students. Assist students in interpreting the various programs of study offered by the college and in selecting and registering for classes to meet specific educational objectives; and disseminate information regarding financial aid to students.
Administer and interpret appropriate diagnostic tools relative to admissions, interests, knowledge, and skills.
Provide individual and group counseling for prospective students and community citizens that will assist in their growth, development, and progress in regard to admission, career/life, academic, social, and personal concerns.
Assist students on academic probation or suspension and refer students to academic support services and campus resources to assist their academic success and perseverance in school.
Coordinate admissions for specific Health Science programs.
Work with other counselors and the Dean of Students to support and devise key retention efforts for students.
Represent the college at local high school career days and all other signature recruiting functions.
Organize and implement all high school visits, college days, open houses, and financial aid days in conjunction with financial aid advisors.
Serve as a point of contact for college transfer and CACRAO tours for recruitment efforts, Communities in Schools events, and align other counselors to support efforts.
Organize an annual meeting with Academics, local high school counselors, and Career Coaches.
Attend all Student Services staff meetings.
Participate in institutional staff development and other professional workshops both local and state related to career development.
Serve on various college committees as assigned.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Probationary Period Disclosure
Satisfactory completion of a 90-day probationary period is required for continued employment.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree with at least 1 years' experience counseling in a post-secondary educational setting.
Preferred
Minimum requirements plus work experience advising, counseling, recruiting and providing support to students in higher education. Experience in the NC Community College System and with the Colleague system.
