Position Title: Course Assistant for Parsons New York Summer Programs Requisition Number: 0406073788 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: PSD/Dean's Office Responsibilities:

Continuing & Professional Education (CPE) at Parsons offers non-degree programs for adult and K-12 students in art and design disciplines. Currently over 400 courses serve students of varying ages (youth, teen, and adult) and pathways (certificate, non-degree credit, online learning) in the fall, spring and summer semesters.

This position will assist in teaching and learning in a class environment for students ranging from Grades 3-12 as well as adult learners through non-instructional activities. The Course Assistant reports to the Assistant Director of Operations and Planning, Pre-College and Summer Programs.

Course Assistants are expected to work the following days in a support role for a teacher. Candidates can choose to work one or more sessions in the summer. Work schedule will be finalized upon hiring.

  • Summer Intensive Studies I (In-Person):

  • Monday, June 8 Friday, June 26, 2026

  • Monday through Friday (no class June 19)

  • 9:00 am-4:00 pm ET (6 hours of paid time with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break)

  • Summer Intensive Studies II (In-Person):

  • Monday, July 6 Friday, July 24, 2026

  • Monday through Friday

  • 9:00 am-4:00 pm ET (6 hours of paid time with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break)

  • Summer Academy for Grades 3-12 (In-Person):

  • Monday, July 27 Friday, August 7, 2026

  • Monday through Friday

  • 9:00 am-4:00 pm ET (6 hours of paid time with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break)

Responsibilities include:

  • Attending class sessions and supporting faculty, including chaperoning for field trips.
  • Assisting with classroom set-up and breakdown, including for Open Studios.
  • Assisting students with printing on campus
  • Demonstrating techniques.
  • Collecting assignments and projects.
  • Uploading course content and documentation online throughout the course.
  • Connecting students with Making Center / Making Center staff.
  • Building community among students to serve academic success
  • Assisting new students with campus navigation.

On-Campus Position Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely.

Rate: $25.13/hour

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current New School student in good academic standing and enrolled for the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Responsible and punctual with the ability to meet deadlines and respond in a timely manner
  • Positive disposition to represent the university, and a willingness to help students from diverse backgrounds progress in their summer intensive experience
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency with Canvas

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with art and design.
  • Flexibility and willingness to support the New School community.
