Designated as a Foreign Trade Zone this terminal offers 350000 sq. ft. of warehouse space and is served by the CSX.Position DescriptionThe primary purpose of this position is to transload materials by using a P&H overhead crane Forklift various capacities Skid Steer and other heavy equipment as necessary. This position will be operating in the field inside of barges inside railcars warehouses and other locations as needed.Operates and Maintains - 50 Ton P&H Overhead Cranes Front-end loaders Forklifts and skidsteer. Plus must oversee the general management of personnel equipment and facility for normal terminal operations.Safe efficient operation of Crane or any equipment involved at the terminal.Maintains equipment by performing preventative maintenance i.e. lubricating cleaning adding gear lubricants changing cables and documenting all activities performed daily.Check all fluids and air pressures.This position assists the existing Crane Operator as needed and will also require operating forklifts driving trucks and various equipment throughout the Port facility. Person will also be required to work on and around barges and the dock as needed.Inspect all moving parts cables and sheaves.Responsible for the safety of barge truck or rail cars and all crew members working in the area at all times especially when the barge is in motion and when material is being removed from or loaded into the barge.Observe load hookup and determine the safety of the load.Observes safety and security procedures reports potentially unsafe conditions.Manipulates or depresses crane controls such as levers and buttons to regulate the speed and direction of crane and hoist movement.Uses equipment and materials properly.Troubleshoot equipment problems and minor repairs.As directed performs activities of co-workers.Must be willing to work shift andor overtime hours during the week andor weekends as dictated by operations.To appropriately perform the essential duties of this job regular work attendance is required.Fasten attachments to the crane with cables and becket pins.Connects hydraulic hoses belts mechanical linkage or electrical power cords to the crane.Moves levers to control equipment movement and attachments.Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver crane and raise lower boom and Load Block to discharge or load materials to or from vessels.Maintains equipment by performing preventive maintenance i.e. lubricating cleaning adding gear lubricants changing filters and documenting all activity performed.Greases oils and performs minor repairs on the crane or front-end loader daily.Other duties as assigned.RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalentA validdrivers license is preferred but not required for this positionMachines Tools Special Equipment Personal Protective Equipment UsedOperate a loader front-end loader skid steer forklift impact guns air tools man lift to work in load out be able to operate a vehicle raise and lower loading arms wire cutters to cut zip ties power tools wrenches.PPE FR clothing vest hard hat gloves safety toed boots safety glasses radio
