At Custom Crane Systems, we're a crane company built by crane people, not private equity, not spreadsheets. We started because we believe industrial customers deserve real solutions from technicians who know the equipment.
We work in a safety-first environment where your knowledge, your judgment, and your pride in the work are what keep customers running and what keep people safe.
The Role
You'll be in the field performing maintenance, routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and complex repairs on overhead bridge cranes and hoists. This is a hands-on role for someone with a strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting background who takes ownership of their work.
When a crane goes down, production stops. You're the person who fixes that, and we want someone who understands the weight of that responsibility.
What You'll Be Doing
- Perform field maintenance, inspections, and repairs on overhead cranes without compromising safety or quality
- Troubleshoot electromechanical systems including 480V, 3-phase motor control, VFD, and AC/DC controls
- Replace and service components: wire rope, end trucks, brakes, hoists, drives, and structural elements
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals
- Document findings and make consultative recommendations to customers on repairs and safety concerns
- Complete proper checklists and inspection forms with customer signatures for all service documentation
- Work safely at heights and in active industrial facilities with some heavy lifting required
- Represent Custom Crane Systems professionally on every customer visit
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Minimum 2 years of industrial electrical/mechanical experience
- Thorough knowledge of electrical theory for power and controls
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical crane and hoist systems
- Understanding of OSHA/ANSI crane standards
- Knowledge of simple structural elements
- Comfortable working at heights, in tight spaces, and in active plant environments
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work 8–12 hour shifts including occasional Saturdays and Sundays
- Available for on-call as required by customer site needs
A Plus, But Not Required:
- Overhead crane field service experience
- NCCCO or OSHA 10/30 certification
What We Offer
- $25–$40/hr based on experience
- Time and a half after 8 hours/day and on Saturdays
- Double time on Sundays
- Company truck, cell phone allowance, and PPE provided
- Medical, dental, and vision benefits
- 401(k) with company match coming soon
- Paid vacation
Our Kind of Company
- Leadership that's been in the field, we get it
- Your experience and ideas are respected
- A team that supports each other
- Long-term thinking, not just short-term numbers
- A place to grow, not just a place to work
