Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Crate Builder to join an industrial manufacturing and shipping operation in Claremore. This position is responsible for constructing custom wooden crates, skids, and heavy-duty packaging designed to protect high-value and heavy industrial products during transportation.
The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of industrial crate building, carpentry, framing, or woodworking experience and is comfortable operating power saws, pneumatic tools, and other woodworking equipment. Strong measurement skills are essential, including the ability to accurately read a tape measure down to 1/16 inch.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 1 year of industrial crate building, carpentry, framing, or woodworking experience
Ability to accurately read a tape measure down to 1/16 inch
Strong math and measurement skills
Experience operating power saws and woodworking equipment
Experience using pneumatic nail guns and staple guns
Comfortable using drills, hammers, and other hand tools
Ability to read and interpret work orders and dimensional requirements
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
Ability to safely perform repetitive physical work throughout a 10-hour shift
Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
Strong commitment to workplace and equipment safety
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Construct custom wooden crates, skids, and industrial shipping containers
Measure and cut dimensional lumber and plywood to precise specifications
Operate miter saws, table saws, and radial arm saws
Assemble crate components using pneumatic nail guns and staple guns
Use drills, hammers, and related woodworking tools
Build crates according to product dimensions and transportation requirements
Install internal blocking and structural bracing
Install foam cushioning and other protective packaging materials
Apply strapping to help secure products during transportation
Verify crate dimensions throughout the construction process
Inspect finished crates for accuracy and structural integrity
Prepare completed crates for material handling and shipment
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
Perform additional crate-building and production duties as assigned
Blueprint, Work Order & Measurement Responsibilities
Read and interpret work orders
Review CAD cut sheets when provided
Identify required crate dimensions and tolerances
Measure lumber and plywood before cutting
Verify component dimensions throughout assembly
Maintain measurement accuracy down to 1/16 inch
Identify dimensional discrepancies and make necessary corrections
Ensure completed crates match required specifications
Industrial Packaging Responsibilities
Crates may be designed to protect heavy or high-value industrial products and may require:
Custom internal blocking
Structural bracing
Foam cushioning
Heavy-duty strapping
Reinforced wooden skids
Custom-sized crate construction
Product-specific supports
Export-ready packaging
Finished crates must be inspected for structural integrity, dimensional accuracy, and applicable ISPM-15 heat-treatment export standards.

Crate Builders may also assist with moving lumber, finished crates, and industrial products using:
Forklifts
Pallet jacks
Overhead cranes
Other material-handling equipment
Forklift experience is a plus.

Industrial crate-building experience
Carpentry or framing experience
Woodworking experience
Custom industrial packaging experience
Experience building heavy-duty crates and skids
CAD cut sheet or drawing experience
Forklift operating experience
Overhead crane experience
Manufacturing or industrial production experience
Experience preparing products for freight or export shipment
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand and remain physically active throughout a 10-hour shift
Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
Ability to safely handle lumber, plywood, crates, and packaging materials
Manual dexterity required for measuring, cutting, fastening, and assembly
Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift
Ability to safely operate saws, pneumatic tools, and hand tools while wearing required PPE
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing and crate-building environment
Regular work around lumber, plywood, power saws, pneumatic tools, forklifts, and material-handling equipment
Physically active position involving frequent measuring, cutting, fastening, and material movement
Detail-focused environment requiring accurate dimensions and durable construction
Consistent 3:30 PM 2:00 AM second-shift schedule
