    Job Description

    • Performs clinical care, community engagement and scholarly activity, while serving as an integral part of the interdisciplinary clinical team at the designated location as well as within the Creative Forces Network.
    • Provides clinical services on site and as directed virtually including implementing treatment programs and professional casework for active duty military personnel, veterans and their eligible dependents designated to receive care by the Department of Defense (DoD) or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and as specifically allowed under the Memorandum of Understanding between the site facility and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).
    • Engages with the cadre of Creative Arts Therapists (CATs) within the Creative Forces Network to identify and share best practices, including the development of content for the National Resource Center. Actively engages in both synchronous and asynchronous collaboration with the Network of CATs as an active member of a community of practice to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality care, while supporting one another professionally.
    • Seeks and develops opportunities to create connections between their designated clinical site and community arts organizations to enhance the desired clinic to community continuum. Participate in education, outreach and media activities as requested by the Creative Forces Senior Military Medical Advisor.
    • Advances the collective understanding of the value and impact of the Arts, with specific emphasis on the Creative Arts Therapies evaluation and research. Seeks opportunities to educate and raise awareness of the role of Creative Arts Therapists, including their contribution to improving the health and well-being of service members, veterans and their families.
    • Coordinates and works with the clinical site director/leadership for day-to-day operations and to determine site specific requirements.
    • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

    HJF is seeking a Creative Arts Therapist (Music Therapist) to work at Fort Carson, CO to implement Music Therapy programming that will inform how the creative arts therapies and various healing arts models developed and tested within the Creative Forces Network can be adapted and delivered to Service Members, Veterans and families at designated Network expansion locations, both in person and as directed via telehealth. Develops, implements, and evaluates a music therapy program for patients. Fosters positive and professional interpersonal relationships with patients/families, physicians, hospital staff, community representatives and visitors. Effectively uses interpersonal communication skills to promote a healing environment.
