Creative Director-Experience Life

Position Summary

The Creative Director creates top quality layouts and designs for the pages of Experience Life, the EL website, and collateral elements. They will lead the art department and create pathways to expand their roles and follow career paths that each member is passionate about. They will create engaging and effective covers and pages of Experience Life, art direct all cover photo shoots, and coordinate all cover execution including design and image retouching. Managing creative budget and continually look for ways to be more cost effective with the creative budget will be a daily task. The Creative Director will execute retouching for all images, including cover photography and find creative ways to execute stories in a cost-effective manner. Overall they will establish brand guidelines and standards for Experience Life, across the spectrum of print, digital, social media, circulation, direct mail, and advertising.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Creates and oversees all design work for EL including print, digital, social media, circulation and advertising
• Directs art illustration and photography as well as stock and commissioned work
• Executes retouching for all images across all EL platforms
• Manages the art team, including assigning work and establishing priorities within the team
• Executes multiple rounds of design reviews and changes
• Takes charge of photography and hand lettering execution when needed
• Assists with Life Time Corporate projects when needed to guide the brand identity of EL in relation to Life Time
• Leads the creative department in all team planning meetings and acts as back up to Editor in Chief for leadership needs

Position Requirements

• Bachelor''s Degree in Marketing or related field
• 10 years or more of experience in the industry
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite CS6, InDesign and Photoshop on a Mac or OSX platform
• Knowledge of design principles and production execution
• Experience with high level design and art direction

Preferred Requirements

• Experience with photography, lighting or creative direction
• Experience with retouching

Pay

This is a salaried position starting at $105,000.00(or applicable minimum salary, if higher) and pays up to $145,000.00, based on experience and qualifications. In addition, this role is eligible for bonuses based on performance metrics.
